Rod and Staff Preschool

A-B-C Series, G-H-I Series, and Readiness Test

The Rod and Staff Preschool Series is designed to awaken and shape the child's mental and motor skills. As Rod and Staff's alternative to kindergarten, this series is designed to be used by four- to five-year-olds as preparation for an average 6-year-old to start the first grade Bible Nurture and Reader Series, which begins with the basics in teaching language skills.

If you are looking for activities for younger children such as three- and four-year-olds, we suggest the following: About Three, Bigger Steps, Color, Count, and Cut, and Doing My Best. Learn more...

A-B-C Series
This series provides preparation material. Six workbooks give practice in coloring, cutting, pasting, and following directions while learning neatness and carefulness with books. The storybook gives auditory and oral practice for the child.

G-H-I Series
This series extends the A-B-C series. It provides six more books to help build a good scholastic foundation for the preschool child. This series uses a specific geographic region as a theme for each book, giving the added advantage of teaching geographic awareness by association as well as an awareness of God as the Creator. The exercises are designed for the child to do with adult guidance.

Supplement
My Writing Book provides practice with writing the alphabet, numbers 1 to 25, and various other exercises. Names for All the Animals is a mini encyclopedia featuring 140 creatures found in the G-H-I series. It is designed as a non-consumable reference book, but also includes several pages dedicated to a variety of oral exercises.

Recommended Scheduling
The book Bible Pictures to Color contains 60 pictures to accompany the Bible Stories to Read storybook. Intersperse using these books during the whole school year as you are doing the other workbooks.

For the 12 other workbooks (A and C-M), use them in alphabetical order. There are 64 pages in each book. To spread each sequence of 6 workbooks over a typical school year, use a couple pages per day of the workbooks, and a Bible story and picture every 3 days or so. For a 1-year schedule, simply double the number of pages per day.
