This budgeting workbook is intended to assist you in setting up your own personal budget. There are many programs available, and the most important issue is not that you use the format provided here. Rather, the important thing is that you find a method that is comfortable and easy and that works for you. You may have tried the envelope system in the past. The program in this workbook uses this concept, but it also enables you to make some payments by check or debit card.

While much of the work in preparation will be best accomplished by one person, I would encourage you to work at this with your spouse if you are married. If both of you are involved in establishing your financial goals, tracking your past spending, and setting up the initial budget, you will find it much easier to attain your goals.
